Job description: Role: IT Engineer/Architect Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)Location : illinois – RemoteJD:We’re looking for a skilled and experienced IT Engineer or Architect to join our global IT team. This role focuses on building and maintaining secure, high-performance virtual desktop environments using Citrix and Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). You’ll help design, implement, and manage end-user computing solutions, ensuring everything runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently.Key Responsibilities:Design and build virtual desktop solutions using Citrix and Microsoft AVD.Automate and optimize virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) for better performance and reliability.Ensure solutions meet security and compliance standards.Manage desktop engineering tasks like OS image creation, application packaging, and deployments.Create and maintain detailed technical documentation (e.g., diagrams, procedures).Troubleshoot complex VDI and Microsoft 365 issues to minimize downtime.Work closely with other IT teams (network, security, storage) for system integration.Help design and improve Microsoft 365 services like Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Intune.Support global software distribution, ensuring secure and consistent application delivery across the organization.Help define and enforce global IT standards for endpoint configuration and security.Stay updated on new IT tools and trends to continuously improve systems.Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training when needed.Take ownership of tasks-from planning and strategy through delivery and handover to operations. Ideal Candidate Profile:7+ years of IT infrastructure experience, ideally in large global companies.Strong expertise in Citrix and Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.Comfortable working in a collaborative, multi-team environment.Great communication skills-can clearly write documentation and explain complex ideas.Experience leading or managing projects.Skilled at improving technical processes and systems.Holds a 4-year degree in IT, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
