Responsibilities
This position will support the Hispanic/Latino patient population in the Cancer Center.
The Patient Navigator is a liaison between our patients and Mayo Clinic. Patient Navigators assist the patient and family by coordinating and facilitating the patient experience and with administrative tasks pertaining to their overall experience. The Patient Navigator provides oversight of the patient care experience and intervenes as necessary. Works collaboratively with Mayo Clinic and external physicians, appointment coordinators, patients and family members to provide an exceptional patient experience and provide service recovery when needed. Patient Navigators are required to adhere to the ethical, compliance, and regulatory standards set forth for the center/department/division/program and institution. This position requires the flexibility to work weekends and evenings when necessary. Must enjoy interacting with and serving a diverse patient population and thrive in a rapidly-changing, fast-paced environment. Additionally, provides facilitation services for Specialty Contract patients, navigating the patients and supporting their Mayo Clinic experience.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in communication, customer service, or patient care OR Associates degree or other college certificate or diploma required with six years of experience in communication, customer service, or patient care required.
• Prior experience in working with diverse patient populations; demonstrate understanding and respect for different values and cultural practices with respect to health care and personal communications.
• Prior experience working with public health programs or in health systems which serve communities of color and marginalized populations.
• Preference given to candidates that speak Spanish
• Experience working with cancer patients of all ages and families preferred.
• Awareness of and comfortability with connecting cancer patients and caregivers to local, regional and national resources.
• Demonstrated listening and engaging skills is required.
• Demonstrated organizational, communication and teamwork skills.
• Must be flexible and have the ability to respond to changing priorities and varying workloads.
• Experience in a medical field, managed care or similar environment and knowledge of the Mayo system is strongly preferred.
• Requires effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a complex environment with multi-dimensional points of view.
• The incumbent must be able to work effectively in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork.
• Must be comfortable with ambiguity, exhibit good decision making and judgment capabilities, attention to detail, and follow-through.
• Must possess the ability to inspire trust and confidence, and communicate effectively with internal and external audiences.
• Incumbent must be self-motivated, self-directed and highly organized who will promote a productive, collegial workplace and be a professional ambassador for Mayo Clinic.
• Ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously is necessary in this position.
• Belief in the mission and strong ethical conduct is essential.
• Demonstrated proficiency in information technology, MS Office products, and clinical applications.
• An understanding of a complex healthcare system and the philanthropic process is desirable.
• Requires the ability to work collaboratively and professionally to build rapport with others at all levels of responsibility.
• Must possess effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact on a professional level with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

$27.55- $41.37 / year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
