Summary
As the Chief Healthcare Technology Manager, you will oversee all aspects of Healthcare Technology Management for the Medical Center. This position is responsible for ensuring the effective management, operation, and safety of medical technology services.
This is an Open Continuous Announcement and will remain open until September 30, 2025, or until the position is filled.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Medical Center’s Healthcare Technology Management Department, including all administrative, managerial, and supervisory functions.
- Ensure continuous operation of essential patient services and respond promptly to issues that may disrupt these services.
- Develop and implement the Medical Equipment Management Plan for the Medical Center.
- Oversee the Medical Device Protection Program (MDPP) in compliance with national information security directives.
- Establish and revise policies, procedures, standards, and goals to guide department operations.
- Manage budget and financial resources to support quality assurance and maintenance activities.
- Plan and coordinate capital asset and infrastructure projects for complex medical equipment systems from concept to implementation.
- Analyze organizational challenges and develop efficient, cost-effective solutions at the facility, VISN, or national level.
- Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, NFPA, and other regulatory requirements related to medical equipment management.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of medical equipment to support patient care.
- Manage recall and safety alert programs, including incident investigations to ensure patient safety compliance.
- Supervise personnel actions and organizational design within the department.
- Prioritize tasks and manage scheduling to meet departmental goals.
- Advise senior clinical and leadership staff on existing and emerging medical technologies, focusing on safety, suitability, and compatibility.
- Provide expert technical support, training, and quality assurance for complex clinical technologies across multiple sites.
- Collaborate with officials across departments and advise management, including physicians and clinical staff, on technical matters.
Work Schedule & Benefits
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Requirements & Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (ABET-accredited program) in fields such as Biomedical, Clinical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Alternatively, certification as a Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) plus a bachelor’s degree in another field.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Must meet applicable VA grandfathering provisions if currently employed by VA.
Experience:
- At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge in managing departmental resources, drafting policies, prioritizing workloads, and problem-solving.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including conflict management and collaboration with diverse teams.
Physical Requirements:
- Some walking, stooping, standing, bending; mild to moderate lifting; primarily sedentary work depending on assignments.
