Job description: Job Category: Information Technology [Sa1]Job Description:The Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine is seeking a Grants and Contracts Desktop Services Technician.The is responsible for supporting and maintaining computer systems and peripherals. This includes imaging, installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading both software and hardware while ensuring optimal performance and adherence to established standards. The Grants and Contracts Desktop Services Technician must possess knowledge of both PC and Apple products and will troubleshoot problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance where required.This position will perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of desktop issues for end-users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions as needed either face-to-face, over the phone, by email, real-time text-based chat, or by using institutional remote assistance tools. The Grants and Contracts Desktop Services Technician must also work with the other Cutler IT and University IT staff as needed to address issues related to technology.The at the University of Southern Maine (USM) is a research and policy institute that focuses on improving the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through applied research, evaluation, and policy analysis.   • Associate degree and one to three years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing PC and Apple hardware and software problems.
  • Strong knowledge of current Microsoft operating systems.
  • Strong knowledge of recent and current Apple operating systems.
  • Experience with current Microsoft products including Office Suite.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with modern desktop management in an enterprise setting.
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (ex.: TDX)
