Responsibilities
Responsible for the management and coordination of formal Mayo Clinic School of Health Science (MCSHS) education programs (may include residency, fellowships and internships) and allied health staff education needs within the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP). This includes program development, planning and implementation (strategic and short-term), curriculum development (didactic, on-line, and clinical rotations), student recruitment (internal and external to Mayo), scheduling, teaching, mentorship, outcome assessments, evaluations and budget maintenance. Actively participates as a clinical education faculty in formal education programs within the MSHS as well as participates in DLMP educational programs and other projects as assigned. Works collaboratively with other groups and organizations internal and external to Mayo Clinic, including university, college and high school leaders and faculty. May provide oversight and guidance to education specialists and other persons participating in the training of students in the program. Maintains competency in laboratory specialty and in education methodologies.
The education coordinator supporting the Division of Computational Pathology and AI will be involved in development of AI and data science related programs for the department. The candidate will assist in leading the Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program that engages community educators to gain hands on experience in the application of AI in healthcare partnering with multiple departments.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, a biological science from an accredited institution, education, management or health related field.
In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, bachelor’s degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Six years of relevant laboratory experience; or a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology and four years of relevant laboratory experience. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Prior experience in teaching, training and mentoring students and employees in the program field. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal), strong organizational skills and self-initiative; patience and the ability to effectively coach and mentor others. Experience in developing education and training programs is preferred. Experience with data collection, organization, analysis, and delivery of information. Able to work as a team member including taking direction from others. Able to work independently, Able to manage projects. ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.; $81,744 – $122,678/ annually.

A flexible work arrangement that supports a combination of remote and on-site work according to business needs. The employee is required to live within commutable distance to the Mayo Clinic Rochester campus.
