Responsibilities
The role is a key thought partner to Mayo Clinic leaders, with an important voice in Mayo Clinic’s financial, strategic, and operational execution, providing counsel and insights in a high-performance, high-velocity environment.
Responsibilities:
* Lead Mayo Clinic’s accounting, financial reporting, and tax organizations, including the design of and continuous innovation to achieve best-in-class status for the group.
* Play a key role in developing and executing on Mayo Clinic’s long-range strategic financial plan; team with institutional leaders to optimize organizational performance.
* Partner with the FAS Chair to spearhead the identification and execution of broad FAS optimization and redesign initiatives, involving organizational design, process improvement, policy optimization, and visioning the future-state of financial operations. Oversight for key design and execution phases of this work.
* Accountable for ensuring a compliant Mayo Clinic financial control environment, interpretation of policies and regulations, and ownership of external auditing processes and relationships. Determine accounting and tax implications for all material business decisions, ensuring compliance and mitigating risk.
The role stays abreast of the latest trends in finance, accounting, and analytics across industries. Looks to organizations and other industries that are further ahead in their finance and accounting practices, to allow Mayo Clinic to leapfrog into the future, leveraging the most contemporary tools and technology. Able to effectively create and communicate a picture of the future and lead a team in developing and executing tactics that deliver on the future vision. Some travel required.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance with 12 years of applicable accounting or finance experience.
- Ten years of executive management and complex leadership experience.
- Active Certified Public Accountant licensure.
MBA or master’s degree with an accounting focus is preferred. Expert knowledge of accounting and finance principles and practices and the ability to lead others in application, with extensive experience in transactions, transformations, business partnerships, and other strategic activities. Prior financial experience with international operations is desired, while prior financial experience in technology-based organizations is helpful. Extensive history of designing and executing improvement strategies for processes, policies, and organizational structure.
