This developer will work in the division of Laboratory Genetics and Genomics, in support of the Molecular Technologies Laboratory (Hereditary Molecular), Hilton 9. Responsibilities include: 

  • Develops, innovates, evaluates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and [DT3]. 
  • Responsible for improvement of existing methods or implementation of novel technology of proven validity within the work unit. 
  • Organizes new method validation data, prepares data for publication and peer review, and participates in formal presentations.

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. 

Qualifications

To be considered for the Developer position, you must meet the following qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, or a biological science, and 2 years of relevant laboratory experience, OR
  •  Bachelor’s degree and a certificate in MLS, and 2 years of relevant laboratory experience. 

*A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. 

*Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. 

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with the following platforms: LC-MSMS, GC-MSMS, and HPCL is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology or Doctoral degree (PhD) in chemistry or a biological science preferred. 
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently exercising strong critical thinking and decision-making skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. 
  • Capable of reproducing a reference method using available procedures without supervision.
  • Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures. 
  • Experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information. 
  • ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.

Typically, Monday-Friday Day Shift with some flexibility for hours. Potential for some intermittent remote work as projects allow.
