Job description: Job Summary:This role involves providing in-person and remote technical support to end-users, resolving issues with desktop computing equipment and software. The Desktop Support Technician will troubleshoot hardware and software problems, configure new workstations, and work with vendors to resolve complex issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. The position requires onsite work five days a week.Location: Washington, District of Columbia, New Jersey, United StatesResponsibilities:– Respond to help desk tickets in person and remotely.
– Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems.
– Ensure seamless interconnection of desktop computers with various systems (file servers, email servers, etc.).
– Build and configure new user workstation equipment (PC, software, peripherals, user accounts).
– Troubleshoot basic network, software, and printing problems.
– Provide telephone support to users.
– Perform hardware/software installation and configuration on workstations.
– Perform hardware/software installation and configuration on servers (if applicable based on experience).Required Skills & Certifications:– 1 year experience providing hardware/software support to end-users.
– 1 year experience installing hardware and software on workstations.
– 1 year experience installing hardware and software on servers.
– 1 year experience in a Windows environment.
– 1 year experience providing telephone support to users.Preferred Skills & Certifications:– Experience with scripting (Perl, Shell).
– Knowledge of MS Office Suite, TEAMS, SharePoint.
– Knowledge of ServiceNow.
– Experience in maintenance or installation of basic application and support (i.e., password reset; user management).Special Considerations:– Absences greater than two weeks require advance approval from management and provision of contact information. Failure to return by the agreed-upon date may result in dismissal.
– Onsite work is required 5 days per week.Scheduling:– Full-time, five days per week onsite. Specific shift times are not detailed.
