Job description: The Desktop Support Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining desktops, laptops, and associated peripherals. This role provides technical support for software, hardware, wiring, and network-related issues, ensuring timely and accurate resolution to minimize operational downtime. The ideal candidate will exhibit excellent troubleshooting skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
The following duties are representative of the role but are not all-inclusive. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary:
• Install, configure, and maintain laptops, desktops, and related hardware.
• Provide technical support for laptops, desktops, printers, and other peripherals.
• Help with wiring tasks, including workstation cable management and assisting with Ethernet cable installations and troubleshooting.
• Troubleshoot and resolve remote access issues effectively.
• Administer and support Windows 10 and 11 operating systems.
• Perform Active Directory administration, including account setup and maintenance.
• Support Office 365 applications, including troubleshooting and user assistance.
• Respond to helpdesk tickets, ensuring timely resolution or escalation of issues.
• Document support cases and resolutions in the helpdesk system.
• Prioritize and manage multiple support requests simultaneously.
• Provide exceptional customer service to employees and maintain a positive, professional demeanor.
• Knowledge of Windows 10 and 11, Active Directory, and Office 365.
• Basic understanding of remote access solutions (VPNs, RDP, etc.).
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft 365 Certified are preferred.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, wiring, and network issues.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document case progress clearly.
