Job description: Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an IT DESKTOP SUPPORT for a C ontractor assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in lower Manhattan, New York, NY.Onsite 5 days/week is mandatory – 250 Vesey St. in lower ManhattanResponsibilities:
- Provide end-user support for Windows 11, Office 365, remote access/VPN.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime for users.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for Microsoft Office Suite and associated software.
- Perform root cause analysis, diagnosis, and remediation of all technical issues.
- Demonstrate subject matter expertise in Windows, mobile technologies, desktop hardware/software, printing, TCP/IP and standard applications.
- Administer and troubleshoot Entra, Intune, Active Directory (AD), and Azure environments.
- Perform network diagnostics, including ping and traceroute analysis.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks and streamline processes.
- Install and configure Python IDEs (e.g., Anaconda), manage libraries, and use Pip Installs Package (pip) for package management.
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement and support network and system upgrades.
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and issue resolutions.
- Provide exemplary customer support to the following functions in a large international bank:
- Front-office trading and sales functions.
- Support back-office operations and corporate functions.
- Provide technical support of end user issues via telephone, email, ticket assignment or walk-up requests.
- Resolve 80% of technical support issues on the first call. Assign to proper resolver teams if needed.
- Manage trouble tickets in Service Now.
- Use diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
- Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources to aid in problem resolution.
- Performs hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software and configuring systems and applications.
- Resolves computer and laptop issues (connectivity, performance) and printer issues (local, network).
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems and software installation.
- 3+ years of experience and expert understanding in Windows 11
- Proven experience in software and hardware troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite troubleshooting.
- 3+ years of experience in
- MS Office 365 Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online as well as MS Outlook.
- dealing with VPN and TCP/IP Troubleshooting.
- dealing with Proxy Servers / Firewalls.
- Working knowledge of DNS, internet infrastructure, and IP informational tools.
- Strong knowledge of Entra, Intune, Active Directory, and Azure.
- Familiarity with network diagnostics and tools like ping and traceroute.
- Proficient in supporting Python, including IDE setup, Anaconda, library management, and pip.
- Expertise in scripting with PowerShell, including the use of various modules for automation of deployment tasks.
- Financial Services experience.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting trading or front office groups.
- Knowledge of IT security best practices and risk mitigation.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management tools like Tenable, with experience in addressing desktop vulnerabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Client, or equivalent.
