Under general supervision of the Operations Director, the Central Office Desktop Support Manager directs, leads and supervises the Central Office and/or regional Desktop Support Office of Technology (OT) staff. Coordinates office automation tasks; hardware and software installations, configurations and troubleshooting activities. Provides peer assistance, counseling, and training.Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the Central Office and Midlands region Office of Technology (OT) staff, responsible for Tier II desktop support. Mentors, develops and motivates personnel to achieve professional as well as agency goals.
  • Installs/Upgrades/Modifies/Troubleshoots Windows 11 workstations and mobile devices. Communicates and coordinates with other agency, OT leadership, vendors, and other internal staff on the restoral of network outages, issues, or disruptions in service.
  • Maintains knowledge base documentation libraries, spreadsheets, and records to include:

a) Procedure, hardware, and property management logsb) Software, security, and licensing agreements * Assists the Operations Director in planning future hardware and software needs: i.e… workstation, laptop, mobile device upgrades; network infrastructure, data line, and circuit implementation/deactivation activities.

  • Travels the region as necessary, to include surrounding counties and local offices solving hardware and software problems to include connectivity issues, i.e… cabling, network rights, and workstation or user account issues. Establishes working relationships with users, vendors and staff members.
  • Provides emergency support duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operational continuity of the agency.

A bachelor’s degree in communications, business administration, information technology, mathematics, statistics, management information science or a related field and experience in telecommunications, data processing and/or information technology. Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application are encouraged to upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application.   • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of planning programs and work activities in an information technology environment.
  • Ability to plan and supervise the implementation of short- and long-range information technology-based activities and objectives.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and review the work of technical personnel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with users, technical staff, management, vendors, and others.
  • Knowledge of the needs and priorities of the agency.
