ANTICIPTED DURATION:
October 1, 2024 – January 1, 2025.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:This position will participate in collection of scientific data in streams in Eastern Oregon. General project activities include:
Sampling juvenile salmonids with several fish sampling techniques including snorkel-herding, backpack electro-fishing, and boat seining.
Redd surveys
Operating juvenile fish traps
Assisting project and assistant project leaders in activities as requested.
This position is physically demanding. You should expect to carry a 50 lb pack with sampling gear over rocky terrain including through streams. Expect irregular work hours including long days, overnight travel, and some weekends. Field work is primarily conducted arid, hot conditions.

REQUESTED SKILLS:
Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however, we are seeking applicants with the following related skills and experience in:
Fish abundance surveys
Identifying adult and juvenile fish species (especially salmonids)
Collecting, recording, and entering field data.
Preference may also be given to candidates who possess or are in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences.
CRIMINAL RECORDS/DMV CHECK:
Applicants are subject to both a criminal history and motor vehicles check. Driving is required for all positions. Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current certified driving record for review to be considered for the position. Be prepared to obtain as soon as possible. You are expected to provide the out-of-state certified driving record before an offer can be made unless extenuating circumstances exist. Adverse background and/or driving information may disqualify you from further consideration.
