  • Preferred: Doctorate in Educational Leadership or Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or Doctorate in Instructional Leadership or Doctorate in Organizational Leadership or Doctorate in Educational Psychology or Doctorate in Psychology AND valid state teacher certification.
  • Minimum: Masters in Education AND valid state teacher certification AND two areas of exceptional expertise.
  • All instructors must have a minimum of three years’ experience teaching in a character or virtue related program and/or experience in teaching ethics, advocacy, and character in education in a PK-12 or higher education setting.

If you are highly motivated and passionate about teaching exceptional quality instruction, we’d like to hear from you.Grand Canyon University is in search of an Online Adjunct Instructor who is qualified to instruct the courses listed below.EDU-330: Ethics and Advocacy in Education“In this writing-intensive course, teacher candidates will explore multicultural education by engaging in research, communication, and ethical decision-making, focusing on developing educators’ skills in creating equitable and inclusive learning environments. Through analysis of evidence and virtuous practice, the course will examine the critical role of educators as advocates for all students, empowering participants to address disparities and promote equitable opportunities for academic success. With a specific focus on the principles of multicultural education, teacher candidates will be encouraged to reflect on the influence of their own worldviews and perceptions. Emphasizing the concept of imago Dei, which sees every individual as made in the image of God, this course aims to foster culturally responsive classrooms that welcome diversity in all forms. Teacher candidates will explore strategies to effectively bridge the gaps between various diversities and academic achievement, to foster human flourishing within the educational sphere. The course blends content with practical application, highlighting the educator’s role as an advocate for all students and promoting equitable academic opportunities.”EDU-557: Differentiated and Culturally Responsive Instruction“Candidates will use data to differentiate curriculum, instruction, and assessments in ways that foster learning for all students, including using technology. Focus will be on developing an engaging classroom environment, creating opportunities for learners to demonstrate their learning in different ways, and managing the learning environment to actively and equitably engage learners. Candidates will examine frameworks, materials, technology, and strategies for translating the principles of culturally responsive pedagogy into effective educational practice. The emphasis will be on developing curriculum that is bias-free and considers culturally responsive pedagogy, family and community engagement, and global education.”EDU-584: Instructional Coaching“Candidates will apply coaching techniques and tools in academic and professional settings. Emphasis is placed on improving professional practices, workplace culture, and effective collaboration and communication as well as modeling the ethical use and implementation of technology. Candidates will focus on advocating for continuous improvement in education.”EDU-589: Curriculum and Instruction Capstone“Candidates deliver, evaluate, and revise professional development based on student data. Emphasis is placed on the equitable use of digital learning tools and content to meet learner needs. Candidates evaluate and revise professional development plans based on the unmet needs of learners.”Responsibilities:Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance, and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following:

  • Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom.
  • Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and timeframes.
  • Respond to students’ questions and emails within the established timeframes.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
