On average, Plains handles more than 6 million barrels per day of crude oil and NGL in its Transportation segment. Additionally, this position comes with the option of a hybrid work schedule, combining working in our Houston office with working remotely.ResponsibilitiesExternal ReportingAssist in the coordination and preparation of documents to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), including Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-KAssist in the preparation, compilation and organization of support files for all aforementioned filings and reportsAssist in completion of eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) for SEC filingsFacilitate internal and external audit needs, including compiling and submitting support and answering inquiriesAssist in gathering and validating data included in the annual Sustainability reportInternal ReportingAssist in preparation of monthly and quarterly internal financial reporting materials provided to managementIdentify material variances in financial and operational results compared to prior periods or budget and coordinate with other departments to determine variance driversMaintain automated financial statements and other financial reports, identify irregularities or inconsistencies in reports and investigate and resolve issuesSpecial ProjectsPerform technical accounting and peer research, including reading accounting standards updates and other guidance and preparing memorandums documenting findings and implicationsAssist and participate in special projects or ad hoc requests by various departments, as neededQualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Certified Public Accountant license is preferred.1+ years of public accounting or industry accounting/reporting experience. Experience with XBRL is preferredAdvanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft WordKnowledge of computer systems and programs such as Oracle, Smartview, Workiva or similar applications is a plusAbility to work overtime and to be available during peak times as needed (monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting and for special projects)Strong communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff and managementAbility to work collaboratively and establish effective working relationshipsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailMotivated and self-directed, including the ability to independently and effectively manage assignments and work scheduleAbility to work well under tight deadlines, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments with competing deadlinesEffective in a dynamic environment, ability to adapt to and manage change in a positive and proactive mannerExcellent critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify, research and resolve errors, irregularities, and inconsistenciesCleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checksCompliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing#PlainsAt Plains, our employees are our most valuable asset.
