  • Provide first level supervision to a staff of professional accountants and financial analysts.
  • Establish Agency guidance and procedures to ensure compliance and integrity of financial data utilizing professional knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Responsible for the successful execution of all team functions to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of financial/accounting data through the performance of reviews and analyses of internal functions.
  • Provide expert advice on proposed functional or organization changes in support of continuing financial operations requirements.

  • This position requires DoD Financial Management Level 3 certification within 2 years in accordance with DoD Instruction 1300.26, DoD Directive 5118.03 and section 1599d of Title 10, U.S.C. Once obtained, you must maintain and improve proficiency.

QualificationsTo qualify for a Supervisory Staff Accountant, your resume and supporting documentation must support:A. Basic Requirement: A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in accounting or a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. Applicants MUST submit a copy of their official college transcripts from an accredited educational institution which reflects that an accounting or equivalent degree was conferred and the date conferred. Failure to submit your transcripts may result in lost consideration.ORA combination of education and experience – at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Applicants MUST submit a copy of their official college transcripts from an accredited educational institution. Failure to submit your transcripts may result in lost consideration. The applicant’s background must also include one of the following: * Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;

  • A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
  • Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant’s education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, to qualify for the GS-14 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
  • Providing supervisory oversight to accounting and financial operations staff to meet managerial systems and reporting requirements.
  • Ensuring team operations comply with agency policy, quality and auditability requirements, laws and regulations and DLA mandates.
  • Collaborating with other DLA Finance and functional offices in the development and implementation of financial data quality, accounting policy and compliance, and reporting requirements.
