Job description: Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Desktop Support Specialist for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in NYC . Onsite 5 days weekly.Responsibilities :

  • Provides hands-on user support by troubleshooting hardware and software problems for desktop and laptop computers.
  • Configures workstations for new users and upgrades existing equipment and software.
  • Sets up and maintains network and telecommunication systems. Troubleshoots LAN, server and connectivity issues. Utilizes ticketing system, when necessary.
  • Re-images computers, performs data migrations and restorations, and conducts remote problem solving as needed.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of hardware components, hardware configurations, and have strong software experience.

Required Skills :

  • Financial Services experience
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in desktop / technical support.
  • Strong working knowledge of hardware components (desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices) and hardware configurations.
  • Proficient with Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) and common desktop applications (Office 365, Teams, etc.).
  • Solid experience supporting Microsoft Active Directory (user account management, group policies, etc.
  • Familiarity with VPN technologies and remote connectivity support.
  • Experience with imaging tools (such as SCCM, MDT, or similar) for re-imaging, deploying, and managing devices.
  • Skilled in using a ticketing system (ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy, Confluence) to document, track, and close support incidents.
  • Proficient with remote support tools (e.g., Governland).
  • Experience with setting up and troubleshooting telephony / VoIP systems.
  • Knowledge of basic cybersecurity hygiene (endpoint protection, patching, MFA support).

Preferred Skills :

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and troubleshooting LAN/WAN connectivity issues
