Responsibilities

Reporting to the Mayo Clinic Platform (MCP) TechOps Director of Technology, the Reliability Platform Architect will be a technical leader, process and quality evangelist, and agent of change to drive operational maturity throughout the MCP systems.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the MCP test automation strategy and road mapping. Design, maintain, and improve the testing architecture used by other teams to manage their quality, covering Frontend, API Contracts, Performance, and Security.
  • Establish systems for formal requirement traceability and validation.
  • Develop automated mechanisms to provide clear visibility into test coverage, execution results, and defect trends across the Platform to inform team-level strategies.
  • Supports and advises the execution of the MCP technical roadmap.
  • Drive maturity of MCP Technology systems by launching and managing campaigns to promote adoption of new tools, processes and standards.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and updating processes and automation according to evolving best practices.
  • Acts as a mentor and coach for other technical team members, supporting technical growth and systems-based thinking.
  • Define and champion comprehensive standards and best practices for CI/CD, observability, infrastructure as code, and reliability engineering across the Platform Technology team, as well as our vendor partners.
  • Work closely with developers, Product Managers, Infosec, Compliance and other stakeholders to set standards, identify risks, and ensure quality is a shared responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant information technology field or a minimum 7 years of direct full-stack engineering with increasing complexity.
  • 3-5 years working in diverse environments utilizing Agile principles of software development.
  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Engineer with a strong emphasis on healthcare interoperability.
  • Proficiency in Java and/or .NET for backend development, including API / service design and implementation.
  • Expertise in Javascript with a focus on React and react frameworks (e.g. NextJS) for building responsive and intuitive front-end applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (or equivalent) services and cloud-native application development.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR and OMOP.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data security and compliance requirements, including HIPAA, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive and self-driven mindset with a passion for staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Experience with Interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR and OMOP.
  • Experience with solutions integration/delivery in a healthcare setting.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in driving and leading technology development and technical capability to guide strategically and manage resources.
  • Experience with technology change management specifically around SDLC end of life and feature migration processes.
  • Business acumen, to gauge not just what can be done but to know what can be completed cost effectively and sustainably.
  • This person must have the ability to promote and explain technology initiatives to business leaders outside of the technology organization and to external partners and customers.
  • The selected individual must combine a solid technical foundation with forward-looking strategic skills to help develop a Platform strategy to enable Mayo Clinic to capitalize on emerging technologies.
  • Ability to think beyond the technology itself and will understand key business drivers that ensure technology investment will provide substantial value or improvements to customers.
  • Experience with Interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR and OMOP.
  • Experience with solutions integration/delivery in a healthcare setting.
