Summary

Position Location:
Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Announcement Type:
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation and an open continuous announcement. Applications will be reviewed as received until all vacancies are filled. The first referral cut-off date is February 19, 2025, with additional referrals made as needed by management.

Key Duties

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and implement improvements to enhance treatment outcomes.
  • Conduct screenings and interviews with patients; perform comprehensive bio-psychosocial evaluations applying expert psychological counseling principles and practices.
  • Assess and manage acute mental health conditions among beneficiaries.
  • Provide individual and group therapy using clinically appropriate methods such as brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and client-centered therapy.

Conditions of Employment

  • Appointment may require suitability or fitness determination following a background check.
  • A one-year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Personnel Security Investigation is mandatory.
  • Must consent to seasonal influenza vaccinations or provide a recognized exemption.
  • Pre-placement medical examination and immunization screening are required, including Hepatitis B vaccination for direct patient contact roles.
  • Must obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross (Advanced certifications do not substitute BLS).
  • Must meet credentialing requirements and maintain relevant clinical privileges.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement:

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Clinical Psychology or a closely related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of specialized experience performing bio-psychosocial evaluations, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychological counseling equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service.
  • Education alone cannot substitute for experience in this position.

Licensure:

  • Must hold a current, unrestricted clinical license to independently practice Clinical Psychology issued by a U.S. state, district, territory, or jurisdiction. (License copy must be attached.)

Foreign Education:

  • Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized credentialing service to verify equivalency to accredited U.S. programs.

Additional Information

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete Selective Service registration certification.
