Responsibilities
As a Technical Specialist in the Frozen Section Lab, you will collaborate with those in the Technical Specialist II, Technical Specialist Coordinator, and laboratory management team to provide direction for the technical operation of the laboratory, which includes operation maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays.
Responsibilities of the Technical Specialist I role:
- Validating and documenting operational changes using the test life cycle process (TLCP).
- Providing direction for operational workflow
- Serving as an expert resource for the work unit and other laboratory technologists
- Completing projects and assignments
- Actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position you must:
- Have a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant laboratory experience
*A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays.
- Capable of performing under time constraints, multi-tasking, and working in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Demonstrates self-motivation, attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
