On our team, you’ll be at the forefront of enterprise-scale virtual desktop operations.In this pivotal role, you will provide dedicated support to our customer based in the Annapolis Junction, MD area, supporting a government program. You will play a key role in maintaining enterprise infrastructure, ensuring system integrity, and driving innovation through collaboration and technical excellence. We are committed to operational resilience and continuous improvement in support of our customers’ missions.Your Mission: Systems Engineer responsible for designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting resilient VDI solutions within a large-scale Citrix XenDesktop and VMware infrastructure. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will resolve complex escalated issues and ensure optimal system performance, high availability, and strict compliance with security and operational standards.Location: Annapolis Junction, MDAll work is on-site. This is not a hybrid or remote position.Schedule: Day Shift | On-Call Rotation RequiredClearance: TS/SCI with PolygraphCertifications:
- CompTIA Security+ CE (IAT Level II)
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Bachelor’s Degree and 14 years of relevant IT experience
- Design and define system architectures for new and existing enterprise-scale virtual desktop environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical issues from the service desk and desktop support teams.
- Provide proactive and responsive support, ensuring strict adherence to SLAs and security compliance.
- Investigate and drive root cause analysis for recurring technical issues, collaborating with engineering teams to build resilient long-term solutions.
- Develop and enforce software configuration management standards.
- Perform system documentation, migration planning, configuration tracking, and testing across hardware/software deployments.
- Support a vast VDI infrastructure supporting hundreds of thousands of users in a Citrix XenDesktop and VMware hypervisor environment.
- Manage and provision data securely, with experience in de-identification processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and automation of system administration tasks.

- Exceptional documentation and organizational abilities to support operational clarity and consistency
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, enabling effective teamwork across diverse IT functions and stakeholders

Required Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in Citrix XenDesktop for virtual desktop deployment and management
- In-depth knowledge of Desktop Delivery Controllers (DDCs) for efficient VDI delivery
- Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi and virtualized infrastructure
- Strong background in Windows Operating Systems within enterprise environments
- Proven ability to manage and support large-scale enterprise IT infrastructures
Education and Required Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree and 14 years of relevant IT experience
OR
- High School Diploma or GED and 19 years of relevant IT experience
Travel
- Less than 10% of travel may occur.
