Overview
We are seeking skilled Structural Civil Engineers to join our team supporting both military and civil works projects. These include the design and construction of complex infrastructure such as hospitals, housing, water treatment facilities, navigation locks, dams, and bridges. Positions may be filled at the GS-11 and GS-12 levels depending on qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop structural design features for major civil and military construction projects.
- Perform structural analysis, including seismic, finite element modeling, and reliability assessments.
- Prepare design documents, specifications, and modification packages.
- Serve as a technical expert, supporting contract negotiations and interagency coordination.
- Inspect construction sites to ensure adherence to design standards and resolve technical issues.
- Evaluate and recommend solutions for change orders and proposed modifications.
- Review and approve submittals and design studies for compliance and accuracy.
- Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on complex structural systems.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements (0810 Civil Engineer Series):
You must meet at least one of the following:
- A. Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- B–E. A combination of education and experience, licensure as an EI/EIT/PE, or a degree in a related scientific field plus professional experience under supervision (details outlined in full job posting).
GS-11 Requirements:
- One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level (or equivalent) including developing structural designs, preparing design documentation, conducting site investigations, and using CADD for structural features.
GS-12 Requirements:
- One year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level (or equivalent) in structural engineering work involving large civil works (e.g., locks, dams), including structural design, safety evaluations, specifications development, and leading project teams.
