Naval Sea Systems Command

Summary

This flyer serves as a public notice for anticipated vacancies within the Department of the Navy. Applications submitted through this flyer will not receive a “Notice of Results” letter. Who May Apply

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply electronics or computer engineering expertise to military and intelligence-related systems.
  • Lead systems engineering tasks for SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) and Electronic Warfare (EW) programs for both shipboard and shore-based applications.
  • Design and develop computer-based and embedded systems, including firmware, software, circuit boards, and cybersecurity systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and ensure continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Collaborate with contractors to define technical requirements and monitor performance.
  • Coordinate and lead joint government-contractor teams, assigning tasks and resolving issues.
  • Engage with military sponsors, fleets, labs, and contractors to identify future needs and explore innovative technical solutions.
  • Prepare briefings and written reports for senior leadership on project status and milestones.
  • Lead high-level technical discussions and development strategies.

Basic Requirements

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be eligible for federal employment.

  • May require travel, including to remote or overseas locations.
  • Must obtain DAWIA certification in the applicable Acquisition Functional Area if required.

Qualifications

  • Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the ND-03 pay band (GS-09/11) involving design, testing, integration, or maintenance of warfare or intelligence systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership in engineering or scientific roles supporting technical system development.

Education Requirements

For Engineering Series (0801, 0850, 0854, 0855):

Must meet one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE), or Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Combination of education and experience as outlined by OPM standards.
  • A related scientific degree with documented professional engineering experience.

For Data Science Series (1560):

  • Degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a closely related field.
  • OR: Combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in the required fields.
