Agency: Department of the Navy – U.S. Marine Corps Installation East (MCIEAST)
Location: Anticipated vacancies; exact locations to be determined

This flyer serves as a public notice for anticipated law enforcement vacancies within MCIEAST. It is not an active job application. Who May Apply:

  • U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the United States.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Enforce laws and maintain order within Marine Corps installations.
  • Perform anti-terrorism and force protection duties to deter unauthorized access.
  • Conduct routine and emergency patrols by foot, bike, or vehicle.
  • Respond to calls for service and investigate incidents ranging from minor to complex.
  • Carry and qualify with a firearm; maintain apprehension and detention authority.
  • Serve at fixed security posts such as gate entries and exits.

Work Schedule and Conditions:

  • Rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays.
  • Subject to 24-hour recall, emergency overtime, and mission-essential duties.
  • Exposure to physical exertion, outdoor environments, and hazardous conditions.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and medical examination.
  • Required to meet physical agility standards and maintain weight/fitness regulations.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must maintain U.S. driver’s license and obtain government vehicle operator certification.
  • Must complete training at the USMC Basic Police Officer Course and qualify with required weapons and equipment.
  • Must not have been convicted of a domestic violence offense.

Qualifications:

GS-07:

  • One year of specialized experience at GS-06 level: responding to emergency calls, conducting preliminary investigations, and enforcing traffic laws.

GS-06:

  • One year of specialized experience at GS-05 level: handling police assistance calls, enforcing traffic laws, conducting stops/searches, and first aid.

GS-05:

  • One year of experience at GS-04 level: conducting routine patrols, regulating building access, and performing security tasks.

GS-05 Education Substitution:

  • A 4-year degree in Police Science or a related field, or
  • A combination of education and experience that equals one year of experience.

Note: Completion of a police academy may substitute for some general or specialized experience.


Additional Information:

  • Promotion potential to GS-07; advancement is not guaranteed.
  • Position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
  • Not covered under Law Enforcement Officer retirement under 5 CFR Part 842.
  • Veterans’ preference does not apply under this hiring authority.
