Responsibilities
The position involves working as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team to provide care to transplant patients. Individuals will work in collaboration with Transplant Surgeons, Hepatologist and Gastroenterologists, Nephrologists, Fellows, Pharmacists, and Nursing staff. Responsibilities include preoperative and postoperative evaluations, managing hospital admissions, discharges, patient daily rounds, and postoperative management of patients on the Transplant Service.
Provision of care includes, but is not limited to, comprehensive physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including paracentesis and fibroscans as delegated by the supervising physician, education and counseling of patients and their families in the hospital setting. There are also numerous educational opportunities.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as an FNP, ANP, or ACNP.
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice. The NP/PA must be eligible for DEA registration.
BLS and ACLS is required.
