Responsibilities

This position supports content translations, from English to Spanish. Responsible for translating, reviewing, proofreading, editing and researching assigned content and special projects to produce trusted health education — evidence-based and Mayo Clinic-vetted knowledge created in text and multimedia formats and delivered through digital and print channels. Ensures that translated content meets the highest quality standards by following style and procedural guidelines. Responsible for factually, stylistically and grammatically correct content and timely hand off of translated or reviewed content. Adheres to established content standards, policies, processes and workflows. Continuously improves assigned content. Works collaboratively with all members of the content team and other functional areas. Manages time and sets priorities to meet project needs. Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications

The Content Linguist requires a bachelor’s degree in foreign languages, journalism, communications or related field. Proven proficiency in English and Spanish.

Must have at least five years of experience in content translation and demonstrated abilities for managing people, projects or both. 

Proven track record for managing evidence-based editorial content published to multiple delivery channels. Must possess knowledge of or experience with best practices of developing health information. Computer knowledge, experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Must possess excellent writing and communication skills and a proven track record for analyzing and accurately synthesizing actionable information from medical literature and subject matter experts, making deadline-driven editorial decisions, project management, and for ability to effectively coach staff and thrive in a team environment.

Preference will be given to candidates with a certificate in Translation awarded by the American Translators’ Association or a similarly recognized institution, or a graduate degree in a related field, experience with translation software and translation memory. Background in health care interpreting or translation, or science related information or subject matter expertise in health and wellness; knowledge of or experience with structured content is also preferred.
