Position Summary
This public notice flyer is issued to gather resumes for potential vacancies for Scientist positions within the Naval Sea Systems Command. Position Overview
As a Scientist, you will:
- Lead or support the development and maintenance of software for weapons systems fire control.
- Contribute to internal tools, complex modeling software, and tactical deployed systems.
- Operate in an Agile development environment with cross-functional collaboration.
- Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and sponsor-level review meetings.
- Analyze, recommend, and plan application development or modification.
- Engage in modern software architecture design and product line development.
- Conduct coding, security testing, code reviews, and maintain cybersecurity compliance.
- Mentor team members and stay informed on emerging software development technologies.
Qualifications
ND-03 Level:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the ND-02 (GS-05/08) level, involving software development or testing as a professional scientist.
- Alternatively, candidates may qualify with:
- A master’s degree or higher in a related field,
- Two full years of relevant graduate education,
- An LL.B. or J.D. degree relevant to the position, or
- A combination of experience and education.
ND-04 Level:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the ND-03 (GS-09/11) level, involving analysis or implementation of software design, development, integration, or sustainment.

Conditions of Employment
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must meet eligibility for a security clearance (interim/final).
- Subject to employment verification via E-Verify.
- Must be registered for Selective Service (if applicable).
- Compliance with Cybersecurity Workforce Certification (SECNAV M-5239.2) is required:
- ND-03: Role 621, Basic Level within 12 months.
- ND-04: Role 621, Intermediate Level within 12 months.
- May involve travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA); certification required within established timeframes.
