Tim Peake news: Astronaut shares moment he thought he saw a ‘UFO’ in space from ISS | Science | News

Major Tim Peake has revealed an unusual story about the time he thought he spotted UFO during his time in space. In 2015, he became the first British European Space Agency astronaut to work on board the International Space Station (ISS) and to conduct a spacewalk. However, Mr Peake’s UFO story left ITV’s Good Morning Britain hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid howling with laughter.

Mr Morgan had said: “You thought you’d seen an UFO flickering past you.

“You got all excited, right to the point you realised exactly what it was that you’d seen.”

The astronaut said: “Absolutely. This was to the end of the mission so I was quite experienced as to what you should see and what you shouldn’t see in space.

“I saw three lights flying in formation in the daytime.”

He continued: “The only time you see a light in space in the daytime is if it’s another spacecraft coming towards you.

“So I called over my NASA crew mate, Jeff Williams, and we had a look at this and couldn’t work it out.

“Then we finally realised that it was Russian urine that was leaking from the vehicle.

“It was crystallising and reflecting the light back at us so it wasn’t quite the first contact experience that we’d been hoping for.”
