ANU Cosmologist Dr Brad Tucker says a new study has revealed “there could be quite a lot of civilisations out there right now in our Milky Way” however due to the size of Space, “even though they may exist, we may never contact them”.
He told Sky News a “new calculation, (which) is an estimate” has attempted to determine how many “Earth-like civilizations” may be in the Milky Way.
“And so they got an answer of 36, now it’s a very specific answer and so that’s not necessarily the right answer”.
“But they got between zero and 920 essentially”.
“The problem, obviously, is space is big and it would take thousands of years for those communications signals to hit us on Earth, or vise-versa”.
“So even though they may exist, we may never contact them”.
