A Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, consisting of a spitfire and a hurricane, will fly past the funeral of Dame Vera Lynn today. The forces sweetheart will be laid to rest in a private ceremony today in Sussex, where she lived.
Dame Vera Lynn passed away on June 18 at the age of 103.
She came to prominence with her war song ‘We’ll Meet Again’, which became an anthem for soldiers and families during World War II.
Before her death she lived in Ditchling, East Sussex, and her funeral procession will move through the village before continuing on to Brighton.
A hurricane and a spitfire will complete a flypast to pay tribute to her while her funeral takes place.
